I know this is because some functions need to reset the core audio engine but it’s confusing anyway. Kind of details that bother me.

Apply Changes is needed when you change something regarding the process or driver. No, what I was experiencing was in September of last year, so in Logic Pro 9 – way before that new pref was introduced! Now you need some coffee. This is what I am experiencing. I get input monitoring on a new track when input monitor is turned on and track is record enabled but if I start playback input monitoring goes away.

If I start recording input monitoring works again. This is a pain. Is there any way to get full-time input monitoring during record, stop, and playback conditions? Logic Pro This is the most persistent and annoying problem with Logic X , an otherwise great program still has tons of bugs to work out.

I have the same problem – when trying to record, say, a guitar – I can only hear myself when I’m recording, not when the track is playing back on its own or stopped. This problem has been there since beginning, tried multiple interfaces , auto input monitoring, etc.

For years now I haven’t been able to play a dry guitar and hear myself unless I’m recording. Think about that!! Also, right now I’m trying to record Reaktor software instrument as audio by routing audio of Reaktor to a bus, then picking it up on the audio track input.

In order to record the sound, I need to be able to enable input monitoring on my audio track – however I don’t even see the I or R button on the audio track. This problem I haven’t seen anywhere online so willing to bet its my mistake but still.. There should be an input monitoring and record I, R button on my audio track. What am I missing here? Any hints on how to avoid this input monitoring issue? I can’t get to hear my instrument when playingback the session, nor recording.

I have never experienced any of the issues mentioned so far, and I have worked with all Logic X versions and all kinds of interfaces. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account.

Posted September 16, Now then, the manual also includes the following “tip”: When input monitoring is on, the Record Enable button and the Auto Input Monitoring feature do not affect software monitoring – that is, you can always hear incoming audio signals.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. This is a bug Apple is aware of. I thought Input monitoring did work, only not for the internal microphone which will change the fader level and not jump back? At least that’s my experience so far.

David Nahmani Posted September 17, Posted September 17, Page content loaded. Nov 9, AM. No luck with this. These were both on by default. Still can’t hear during playback. What is the reasoning behind this? Seems like input monitoring on Logic Pro X is overly complicated. Nov 22, PM. Community Get Support.

Sep 03,  · Hi everyone, In Logic Pro X auto input monitoring isn’t working for me. In order to hear what I am playing I have to have the input monitoring button selected on the track. Logic pro x input monitoring button free. Manage Logic Pro input monitoring latency

When recording audio or playing a software instrument in Logic Pro, you might experience a slight delay between playing or singing a note and when you hear the sound from your speakers or headphones.

This delay is called input monitoring latency. A variety of factors contribute to input monitoring latency, including:.

You can also manage latency caused by plug-ins using Low Latency Mode while recording. Set the sample rate for your project when you first create it. Higher sample rates result in less input monitoring latency. However, projects with higher sample rates create larger audio files, which can increase the load on the processor and the disk of your Mac. Plug-ins also require more processing power at higher sample rates.

However, smaller buffer sizes require more processing power, which can cause system overload alerts. Roundtrip latency is the total amount of input monitoring latency you’ll experience from audio input to audio output. Certain plug-ins can contribute to input monitoring latency, particularly dynamics plug-ins with look-ahead functions.

If you’re using these kinds of plug-ins in a project, you can minimize the latency they produce while recording using Low Latency Mode. Low Latency Mode bypasses plug-ins as needed, so the amount of latency doesn’t exceed the Limit setting in the Plug-in Latency section of the General Audio preferences of Logic Pro.

Low latency mode is especially useful when you want to record a software instrument in a project that includes latency-inducing plug-ins.
